About Paula Tehlewitz and Stony Run Quilting
I learned quilting more than 20 years ago from a Mennonite woman at a local quilt shop. She crafted beautiful quilted heirlooms and loved to help others learn the best techniques.
I watched as she and others brought endless combinations of colors and shapes to life in the form of quilted objects.
I was thrilled, and I was hooked!
With roots in the "make do" spirit of the pioneers, it's not surprising that quilting has adapted to reflect different materials and techniques.
Like the frontier women of years ago, my practice of quilting changed over time. At some point, my passion for finishing quilts in less time led me to machine quilting.
Since 2004, I have been machine quilting for myself and others. My first commissions were from New Jersey, Ohio, and quilt shops in Virginia.

Another facet of quilting history that I love is the connection to community effort and knowledge.
For a number of years I have been active in several clubs at Rachel’s Quilt Patch and Patchwork Plus, and I was a founding member of the Shenandoah Quilter's Guild. Through these groups, I have met so many talented quilters.
They have enriched my knowledge of piecing, quilting and appliqué.
This business is another extension of my passion of quilting in all forms. My desire is to turn your pieced tops into quilts for your family by adding that finishing touch.

If I'm not quilting, you can often find me enjoying the peaceful surroundings of my Shenandoah Valley home, or spending time with family.
